I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970. When I first got it every time the pixel would connect to the router, the router would immediately reboot. They gave me beta firmware which I think helped but sometimes would still kick the phone off the network. I presently have have firmware v9.10.2.3 on the router and I connect fine to the satellites it seems with the same firmware but if my signal gets handed off to the router it immediately kicks the phone off the network and the phone eventually connects fine to a satellite. Is any new firmware in the pipeline to help with this? I am writing this at 3am because I need my phone to connect reliably to this network. The orbi 960 system worked great with this phone and the pixel 7 pro for the past 1-2 years.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
Hi There,
Engineering team here. There is an issue that is not fix in V9.10.2.3, we have a target fix for upcoming firmware where client sometimes cannot connect to network. Client will say "Connection Fail" and will ask for password again. This issue will sometimes recover by itself. This issue is mainly seen when moving around network.
Another issue is related to Pixel 8 not getting internet but it is connected to a Satellite fine. This issue we currently debugging and looking to fix ASAP as well

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
I have firmware version V9.10.3.1_1.1.16. Every time I go downstairs the signal should hand off to the router and my phone will just say my network has no internet access with an exclamation mark and I have to reconnect. Are there any firmware updates I should try?

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
Have you seen this pop up on your Orbi app?
How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR📡 and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite 🛰️
Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
I'm not sure what you are asking about if something has popped up on the orbi app. I have 3 satellites and 1 router. I have great signal strength and in the admin the signal shows as good. My issue is when you move from one location to the other even with full signal strength the router will kick my phone off the network and I have to manually reconnect. The 960 system worked perfectly. I am probably10 feet from one satellite and the router and the satellite are probably 30-40 feet apart. My pixel 8 pro disconnects from the router when it tries to connect, possibly to the satellites as well. The router no longer reboots when this happens with the new firmware however it just kicks the phone's wifi off and I have to manually reconnect. I am typing on my laptop which stays pretty much in the same location and there aren't any issues. The only wifi 7 device I have is the pixel 8 pro. My brother's pixel 7 pro also keeps getting kicked off the network as well. The 2.4ghz channel is auto and the 5ghz channel is 40. I may need to try returning the router and exchanging it to see if that will help anything.

Do you have a download link for the new firmware? The link just takes me to a page discussing it.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
The link was to a post that there was a FW update to a v9.10.4.1 update that hasn't been posted officially yet. Users had seen the update thru the Orbi app and got it applied using Orbi app and was or is, working for them, though not sure about Pixel devices being fixed. I don't have one.

I think what I will try next tonight and tomorrow night is to run Ethernet cables to each satellite and see how it does as wired access points if that feature is available.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
I am having the same issue with my pixel 8 pro and the orbi 970. I purchased 3 100ft ethernet cables to try and place the satellites as wired access points and I purchased the netgear cm2000 modem last night and will see how it does. Will have an update on Saturday to see if that does anything. At the beginning the router would reboot when my phone wifi signal was handed off to the router, now it just kicks the phone off the network when walking around the house even with full signal. It works fine on the Iot network but that is 2.4ghz I think and I require more bandwidth than that. The Orbi 960 series worked great and right now I regret the upgrade to the 970 series. My current firmware version is 9.10.4.1.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
I believe I may have found a solution. I have purchased the Samsung Galaxy 24 Ultra and so far have not had any issues with dropping connection, connects great to wifi 7 on the orbi 970 series. I have done testing all throughout the home and it will not drop, sometimes it will get on 2.4 or 5ghz but after a few minutes speed tests are back up to 1gbps.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
Thanks for letting us know that something different works. Google and NG will need to get the Pixel issues fixed. I presume that's in progress.
Good Luck.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
absolutely, I just upgraded to the new firmware yesterday and it still had the same issue on the pixel 8 pro, however the phone would start to automatically try and reconnect. I agree on the NG and google collaboration. I have to have a working, fast, and reliable phone/wifi/cellular for work and saw the samsung was being released and got the 24 ultra out of desperation. I received it on 2/3/24 and still have not experienced any connectivity issues. Will continue to monitor.

And this FW you go directly from NG?
Thanks for the details. Ya, Google and NG will need to address the Pixel issue.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
V9.11.0.1 was pulled and most current is v9.10.4.1. You can keep v.9.11.0.1 if your not seeing any major issues.
This user has a beta from NG support. If you feel the need for help, please reach out to NG support.
