Firmware Update Options for Cable Modem/Cable Routers

Aware this is outside of your business unit - still I place this here.
Netgear does offer and sell generic Netgear Cable Modems/Cable Routers to the free market. Some Cable TV providers around the world seem to accept user provied CPE - but don't offer support, and this includes no firmware upgrade service.
Netgear does try to hide on the fact that the firmware must be pushed by the Cable TV provider. This does not help the other people having paid for Netgear hardware - but are left out and behind with outdated firmware.
This does again leave a very bad impression on Netgear. How many of these customers will buy from Netgear again? Figure. Please provide an option so these Netgear product owners can update their devices.
