Effect on different HDD speed ?

Hi all...

I'm planning to upgrade 1 TB HDD with bigger one. since I've several unused HDD that use for PC before, I want put it to RNDU4000.

1. is there any bad impact for performance or reliabilty if I put 7200 and 5400rpm HDD together?

2. is there any recommend for slot position in NAS? eg 5400rpm must be in slot 1/2 and 7200rpm in slot 3/4?

thx before!!

Model: RNDU4000 (ReadyNAS Ultra 4)|READYNAS ULTRA 4 (DISKLESS)|EOL

No.

Assuming they are in the same RAID array: the system performance will be limited some by the 5400 rpm drives.  How much depends on the details (which drives, and whether the network or CPU is limiting the speed).

As far as reliability goes, I used mixed speeds for some years in my Pro-6, and never had any problems.
