ReadyNas Ultra 4 not on network, no access to admin page
Hello all,
I've had my ReadyNas for some years now. Has been working fine but has been slowing down recently, I upgraded the RAM and all was working well.
I tried to upgrade the Plex app but found that it didn't work anymore. So I installed an older version. I think that was the trigger for my ReadyNas going into a strange mode.
I can see it on RAIDar. But I can't find it on the network or access the admin page. I tried reinstalling the firmware the other day but it hasn't resolved anything. I can't get support from Netgear because the product Isn't registered to me ( I recently realised) and because of that, I can't get through their process. I have tried emailing them to get help registering it to myself but it’s been 2 weeks now.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Please help.
Thanks

All ReadyNAS are end of life (and the Ultra is over 10 years old, so long out of warranty). So no support from Netgear anymore.
Can you post a screenshot of the RAIDar screen?
Also, are you seeing the NAS in your router's attached device list?
Did you try pinging it?

Thanks for your reply.
Here's the raidar snip. I can ping it and it shows on my router list.
Just can't access the admin page, it gets to the Netgear screen and sits there. Can't access via pc or android file manager.

Thx - looks like it is also converted to OS-6. So Netgear would deny support in any event.
Do you have a backup of your data?
Are either the download logs or diagnostic links working? If you can get the logs, then I could take a look at them.
If you have ssh enabled, you could see if that lets you log in.

Hello,
And welcome to the NETGEAR Community! 🙂
Could you please tell me the current firmware version you are using?
And please disable the below :
1)Disable Quota
2)Disable Antivirus
3)Disable Audit
4)Disable File search. Also, please delete all the old snapshots and keep the latest ones.

Thanks for your reply,
I'm on 6.10.8, re-installed Firmware from front view yesterday, still waiting for the sync to complete.
As I can't access admin, how do I disable those?
Thanks

You can't. Though Quota was disabled when you did the firmware reinstall.

Do you mean you reinstalled it from the boot menu? (there is no frontview with OS-6).
Not sure why it is resyncing, normally that doesn't happen after a firmware reinstall. But you should be able to access the admin web ui during a resync.
What happens now when you browse to https://nas-ip-address/admin (using the real IP address of the NAS of course). Note that the admin password of the NAS should have been reset to password.

Note AnishaA hasn't seen the log zip (unless you also sent it to her).
As I said above, Quota is disabled now, by the firmware reinstall.
There's no evidence of an issue with your data volume, and it is only 76% full. So there is no need to delete snapshots right now. And you do have plenty of memory (4 GB).
Antivirus, Audit, and File Search do take up CPU, which could be part of the puzzle with regaining admin access.
The recent load average in your logs is quite high.
07:26:13 up 25 min, 0 users, load average: 4.12, 4.89, 4.03 07:41:13 up 40 min, 0 users, load average: 5.57, 6.10, 6.18 07:56:13 up 55 min, 0 users, load average: 7.17, 6.55, 6.21
Normally this averages out to close to 0 over the long term.
But I can't see what the NAS was doing during this time interval. It wasn't resyncing (the most recent resilver in volume.log was back in May).
