Re-registration of ReadyNAS Duo v2

All ...

I have read posts regarding re-registration related to transfer of warranty to new owner.  I just purchased on eBay a ReadyNAS Duo, and I understand the warranty is (long) expired.  The unit is already registered (original owner?), and the system will not let me register the NAS as, now, one of my products.  Of course, I have no intention of claiming any warranty for the sale.

Any suggestions about how to proceed?

Thank you.

As the warranty is only for the original purchaser you cannot register it.

Thank you.

A rather strange stipulation, it seems (to me).  If "another" purchases a unit, warranty or no, it would usual (for most people, I think) to have the unit "registered" as one of their pieces in their "garage," or "equipment bin."

Too bad.

If we let it be registered then support may mistakenly think you were the original purchaser. The unit is still completely functional if it is not registered on the support portal, however a second hand unit from eBay may be in questionable condition.
