ReadyNAS RN104 Files deleted

Hello,

 

I have a ReadyNAS RN104 which I have been using for quite some time.  I was using the ReadyCloud service to access files on the NAS, and recently had an issue with connectivity.  In attempting to resolve that issue, I temporarily disabled the cloud service on the NAS.  This apparently caused it to delete everything located in the home folder for the cloud user.  I had snapshots enabled, but since the entire folder was scrubbed I was unable to restore them.  I tried turning the cloud service back on, which re-created the folder but it is empty, and shows no snapshots available.  I have since turned off the NAS, is there anything that can be done to recover those files?

Welcome to the community!

 

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that you lost the files that were copied to the NAS via ReadyCloud.

 

You might want to try mapping the NAS IP then login as the local admin account (not ReadyCloud), this should show Home share where all personal shares/folders are located.

Hello,

 

Thanks for the response.  I did login as the admin account locally right after, and saw that the home share folder for the account was gone.  I checked the accounts tab and could still see the cloud account listed however.

I have same issue after upgrading to 6.4.2 result in unable connecting ReadyNAS, I was teaking it switching ReadyCloud and ReadyNAS remote client back and forth, I found all of Cloud user in home folder was deleted and data are gone.

 

Apperciate any idea for the data recovery.

Are the files still accessible locally? When trying to access the files via ReadyCLOUD, are you using your admin ReadyCLOUD account?

 No, those files disapeared, it is not accessible locally, the Cloud users are removed with its all files in its folder. Yes I am using your admin ReadyCLOUD account.

I appreciate if your support team can help out this, since I upgraded to 6.4.2, the Readycloud is not able to connect ReadyNAS, it stays offline all the time.

Try to shut down the Cloud service of your system and re-enter your ReadyCLOUD credential as the admin. Let us know doing this let's you access your files via the ReadyCLOUD web portal or desktop/mobile app.

Thanks for the help!

I am able to connect my ReadyNAS by ReadyCloud but all file disappeared, is not there.

I have uploaded the log information in previous post, all the cloud users was deleted A, B, C, D (these accounts are not real name being used), why the system itself deleted all my cloud accounts  without any alert.

It may be best you contact support center as they can have your case escalated to higher tier who can remote in to investigate this.
