2.3.1.60 everything went to crap
Orbi system has been fantastic and rock solid since the day I bought it. Today I was in the app and it said “new firmware available” and I updated, and it was the last time anything worked. The app up...

........... Internet is constantly dropping in and out, and the satellites occasionally connect, but the whole system is effectively down for any wireless use, only devices connected directly to the router work with any sort of consistency. Any ideas of what to do?I saw similar issues after updating to 2.3.1.60. I think that something is wrong in the Satellite software. I solved this as follows:
- Power off the Satellite
- Go to "Attached Devices" in the web GUI, and click on "Remove" or "Forget" device for the Satellite that you powered off.
- Now power on the Satellite and then use a paper clip to factory reset it.
- When the Satellite comes up press the Sync button on the Router and then on the Satellite to connect the Satellite to the Router
- That's it, when the Satellite comes up things will continue working as they should! :)
Good luck

Let us know.
Beamforming and WMM should be enabled though. Try enabling these if something still happens.

Thanks for the suggestions. So here is what I have done today:
Factory default
Disabled WMM
Disabled beamforming
Disabled daisy chain
Disabled 20/40 coexistence
Changed wireless location to Middle East instead of Europe (because that's where I am). This would have an impact on the channels used. Prefer to keep it Auto for now after this change.
Let's see what happens over the next day.

Well, so far so good! It hasn't conked off once in the last 24 hours so far which is great (the outages were happening everyday - sometimes up to 5 times a day).
I really think here the trick was disabling daisy-chaining. I realized that the firmware 2.3.1.60 update returned this setting to enabled which could be the root cause of the majority of the complaints I have seen here. I have a backup config saved from a former update about 5 months ago and I double-checked to make sure I wasn't imagining this: daisy-chaining should be disabled (at least in my case) since the setup across three rooms is S-R-S (Satellite - Router - Satellite) (Room1, Room2, Room3) respectively.
I read a bit further about Beamforming, Coexistence and MIMO - Most of the devices at home are newer so I don't feel a need to change anything for the time-being. Majority of the streaming is from LG smart TVs (Youtube/NetFlix) and the older models do not include the ability to tag their traffic for QoS.

Glad thats working better now. I think you'll be good now. Regarding Beamforming. I would enable it and test it out. It would help with better performance. IF something does happen with it enabled, you can turn it back of.
Make a new backup config to file as well for v60.
Enjoy. - gr8shoJul 01, 2019VirtuosoIMHO, daisychain shouldn’t cause any problems coming up from a factory installed state. If such a problem existed, it would be pervasive to many more people.
I keep mine off since I only have one satellite and to have one less active channel.
The setup program in the Orbi could activate or deactivate the feature depending on topology. - FURRYe38Jul 01, 2019Guru - Experienced User
With Orib and Daisy Chain, anything is possible. :smileytongue:
