2nd gen Eero announced.
Well. Eero just announced a new 2nd gen hardware, and I must say, I have pre-ordered it. Orbi raw speed is great (when it seems to work) but you have some major flaws that I just think it's time to...

Petey.... Again you are espousing false statements. The 2nd generation Eero's have double the power, triband and, unlike the Orbi, a TRUE mesh system. When is your company going to understand the meaning of "Customer Service"?
lol what a load of rubbish and im sorry but it is
they do not have double the power as that is already surpassed by the eirp levels ( transmission levels ) , they have one extra 5 gig transmission at the same power , so no double power , plz check your facts
consider if they did have 1/2 the max eirp level wouldnt every one be pissed at them being so low in coverage , to claim they have double the power is just incorrect , the eero 2 is untested and so an unknown and if they claim to have twice the power as the eero 1 then the have exceded the eirp and are disregarding the world transmission power rules
and tbh orbi never claims to be mesh , it states mesh done the right way and as far as coverage and throughput thats exactly what it does
you seem to not understand tri band or power levels , it prob why you dont get the orbi
its not my company and i do not work for netgear and never have , i have simply spent 20 plus years in this industry testing and assessing modems and routers
plz understand what you are posting before attacking the messenger

Now that they have tests out, seems to prove you wrong like usual. EERO is twice the power, twice the speed as they said.

sigh
but its not twice the wifi coverage or twice the throughput , all you get is a second 5 gig which wont cover any greater distance
the beacon units also dont have ethernet
and
- Malware protection and parental controls require subscription fee
how about read the reviews rather than just paraphrase the headings

Sigh is right...
The beacons don't have ethernet, and neither does the Orbi Wall Plug Satellite... So what is the point you are making? Also the 2nd Gen vs the 1st Gen are actually very differnet. The second generation units have better antennas and more sophisticated wave 2 radios with working beamforming/2x MU-MIMO and lower noise floors. Yes, they have also added a 3rd band, so you get 2.4Ghz, 5.2Ghz, and 5.8Ghz, and the TureMesh/eeroOS firmware figures out the best and fastest path for everything instead of just dedicating one channel to a backhall.
For extra Malware protection, and addtional content filters (You get parental controls, aka Family Profiles, for free) you can purchase Eero plus, but its completely optional. The best part IMO, if you choose to pay for it is the VIP support, that I actually used today under the 30 day free trial.
And yes, so far, my 3x 2nd Gen Eero (Wireless Pro) setup is out performing the Orbi (RBK50 setup) in everyway. Speedtests, stablilty, support, and well the Eero iOS app is just great...I get that their is some beta firmware coming at some point (seems like we have been talking about it for how many months now?) and a new iOS app in the works, but its been a bit to long at this point for me. So much new hardware has come out from the Orbi team, but software wise, almost nothing??? Doesn't make sense to me when I see Eero releasing new hardware, with all new firmware for its 1st + 2nd gen Eero's, and all new updated apps...

apart from the rbs30 all other orbis do have ethernet ports
"so you get 2.4Ghz, 5.2Ghz, and 5.8Ghz,"
and still no increase in signal strength or coverage , beamforming works on the orbi and mu-mimo is useless for anyone that has more than 3 clients connected anyway its just an advertising gimmick
sorry but paying for anything after you have purchased a product just doesnt make sense
yer but didnt you have a faulty orbi kit ? so it would out perform it
just for your info there have been in excess of 20 firmware versions so far and there will be more
im glad you are happy with the eero but as i stated b4 its not twice as good as the original as the reviews seem to be claiming
