Added RBS40 but it has separate network name and network key...
I added an RBS40 to my current duo (RBR50 and RBS50). The RBS40 has a separate network name and password key than my current pair. How do I get it connected to the existing? My network map shows them...
Connected directly to the router is fine. What causes the conclusion that the new satellite has a different name (SSID) and password? Is it the name and password that is printed on the product label?
Are you administering the Orbi using the web interface or the Orbi "app"?
Perhaps you could use the web interface to log into the Orbi router (http://orbilogin.net) and learn the IP address that has been assigned to the new satellite.
Then web browse to the satellite (http://<ip address of satellite)
The satellite home page will show the SSID of the satellite.

Yes, the label on the bottom and the poor connection to my daughter's TV in our converted garage where I had the satillite. I had been using the APP on my iphone. In the Device Manager, it listed two connections, and I was not able to tell which is which, and since there are only two, I deducted that one is the RBR50 and one the RBS50.
The router login has SO much more info! It shows both satillites connected at 5G with two separate IP and MAC addresses. It does list all the connected devices, and it does show one device (an iPhone) connected to the RBS40. Looks like almost everything else is running to the other RBS50 in my office and a few to RBR50 in our living room where it is connected to the cable modem. I also moved the RBS40 to the kitchen, so it's equal distance to the router and my daughters TV. Is there a way to push specific devices to each satillite based on thier proximity to them?

Alas, you have discovered one of the most frustrating aspects of mesh systems: devices perform a dialog with available access points and determine which they will prefer. Some devices, such as cell phones, tablet, laptops, are programmed to reevaluate the connection frequently, and will "switch" when they decide a different access point is better. Others are expected to remain in place, and once they have chosen one, they tend to "stick".
Nearly every user believes, "I know better" and want to be able to force connections. The only technique that seems to have any chance is to power off the device while the Orbi system is running and then go through the start up again.
I will give that a shot. This opened a new world of device management for me. I really appreciate your taking the time to help!
