Sorry if I misunderstood. Yes, the router list doesn't accurately show what's connected to router vs. satellite. I didn't install .12, but did the auto-update to .16.

LOL! New member, and just got my delivery from the Costco sell on the AC3000 yesterday. I LOL!, because I usually read up on software updates, before doing them. But, figured this was new out of the box, so went ahead and updated the router and satelites with the 16 version. During setup, also before researching, I went ahead and enabled Beamforming. After 'applying' this change, I could not get back into the ORBI Admin pages. Rebooted the Router only, and within 10 mins or so, I was able to get back into ORBI Admin. I use WiFi Explorer on my MacBook Air, and after looking over the local ares channel usages on the WiFi around our home, I tuned the channels, and Aplied. For good measure, I also again rebooted the Router (Not sure i needed to, but I did.).
This was about 3:00PM yesterday, and so far both satelites (One probably just on the fringe, but still showing as 'Good'. Seeing 802.11AC on the Router and Sattelite 1 (The closest one to the ORBI Router.) 63 and 67% signal strength indicated by WiFi Explorer. Can't see the 802.11AC of Sattelite 2, but the 802.11N 2.4 is showing 73-75% signal strength. (Satelite 2, is in a unit above our garage, about 130' away. The ORBI Router is next to the window in our Office, with a line of sight view of the garage unit. Satelite 2 is one wall path away from this line of sight to the Router. When in the garage unit, I'm able to see the Satelite 2 802.11AC with a 83% signal strength.
So I've just about hit 24 hours now with our AC3000 RBK53's. And no drops that I've noticed, and performance has been good via Speednet tests.
LOL! again, as I read this thread on 16 release. all the way up to yesterday when... Suppose I'm lucky Costco oversold these during Xmass discounte price. If I'd setup with out the 16 release, suspect I'd have been a confused customer too:)! Will let things simmer, and see if over a few days of usage, I detect any noticeable slowdowns.
I am interested in the ability to CAT5 connect my Satelite 1 unit, even though it is maybe 65' and one ceiling and two walls away from teh router - and is performing well.
Will popin to this thread and monitor over the Holiday's and see what shakes out:)!
One day of usage, and good peformance, doing what it said it would do. Fingers crossed that Netgear stays on top of this higher priced item for it's customer base:)!
Best to all,
Smitty

I can't believe how much this sucks! The RBR050 has rebooted today at least 5 times, 4 of them while I was on VOIP calls. I honestly can't believe how bad this is for how much it cost.

Which FW version are you running? And when did you start experiencing issues? More details please.
- aazDec 21, 2017Virtuoso
Are you sure it rebooted? Or maybe just dropped connection?
What do logs say - have you turned on logging?

Running V2.1.1.16 which I manually installed, first on the Satelite then on the Router.
Thought it was originally lost connections until I started checking the uptime from the debug page. I also changed the orientation of the router so I can see the top a bit better from where I work. Sure enough, each time I would find the lights on the top blinking white until the reboot finishes and the debug page would show the uptime has restarted at 0.
Basic Infomation CPU Load 36.9077% Memory Usage(Used/Total) 185MB/495MB Flash Usage(Used/Total) 32MB/4GB Network Session(Active/Total) 1223/65536 System Uptime 04:04:24 - netgearguyDec 21, 2017Apprentice
So I was thinking my units were just dropping signal.
If the router LED on top is flashing white does that mean it is rebooting? That's what mine was doing when I checked when the network disappeared. (The satellite would turn purple while this is going on.)
Thanks.

netgearguy wrote:...If the router LED on top is flashing white does that mean it is rebooting?...
Yes, that is what the flashing white LED means (either rebooting or the SYNC button was pressed).
- netgearguyDec 21, 2017Apprentice
Thanks, tagteam - I guess what I thought were repeated network drops were really repeated router reboots, as others have experienced.
- kmichalecDec 21, 2017ApprenticeThis is a HUGE issue if this is what’s really been happening. Anyone from Netgear on here who can comment?
- wootiesDec 21, 2017Star
V2.1.1.16 with repeated reboots all morning. Probably 8-10 within 2 hours. I notice less reboots when i turn circle off, but i still get reboots with it off.. not sure if that's anectdotal or important. .. frustrating.
- kmichalecDec 21, 2017ApprenticeAre you noticing high CPU utilization as well? Wondering if the CPU utilization is increasing higher and higher, and maybe triggering some type of safety reboot or something? Or maybe just crashing the device from the CPU maxing out? Just a theory...
- netgearguyDec 21, 2017Apprentice
Where/how do you monitor CPU usage on the router?
- webminsterDec 21, 2017Luminary
Use https://x.x.x.x/debug.htm, where x.x.x.x is the IP of your router or satellite.
- netgearguyDec 21, 2017Apprentice
Nice! Never used this before...CPU load 6.5%.
Uptime 2 hours 31, which matches back to the last time I rebooted it to change the SSID and some other settings.
- netgearguyDec 22, 2017Apprentice
And then crash again...
2 hours 45 minutes uptime and then router rebooted spontaneously. So back to the same behavior. Sad...
- wootiesDec 22, 2017Star
I've only rebooted once since turning off Circle on .16
- dpaugroDec 22, 2017Tutor
Bounced Circle just a few minutes ago after I couldn't reach the internet. All is back to normal. I'm on v2.1.1.16.
- kmichalecDec 22, 2017ApprenticeDo you have logging turned on in the debug settings? What is it saying before the crash?
- Stonewall07Dec 22, 2017Aspirant
I had never used this either. So being a noob to this and looking at the System Uptime, I have been out of the house for 3 hours. Would this mean that the router rebooted 1:22 minutes ago?

Your numbers didn't come through, but yes, if you show 1:22 minutes up-time, that would mean that the system restarted 1 hour and 22 minutes ago, while you were away.
Frankly, I suspect a lot of people who believe they have "no problems" are just missing the moments when their system reboots, if they aren't home, or aren't using Wi-Fi/network when it happens. It's easy to miss unless you are looking at the router or satellites while the reboot is happening, as you're only offline for a few minutes. Only way to be sure is look at the up-time info.

I've taken down the Orbi and am using my Eero system right now as family demanded I stop "playing around and breaking the network." :) :O
The next time I have some time to try the Orbi again (either late at night or early AM when they are asleep) I'll enable the logging so I can see what preceeds the reboots.

And now, none of my devices show as connected to the satellite, just the router. What a joke!
- JMU1998Dec 24, 2017Luminary
Yes many are seeing all the satellite show devices or are all connected to main router and list is incorrect not sure what Netgear is doing to address this issue.

KGrue wrote:And now, none of my devices show as connected to the satellite, just the router. What a joke!
This is a known issue, but it's display only - assuming you are on firmware 2.1.1.16 - you should see some devices in the router as connected to your satellites - otherwise your firmware is probably not installed correctly and your satellites are not accepting connections. I would try to re-install the firmware in your case - follow the normal instructions - download both router and satellite firmware, unzip it and then install it onto satellites first - one by one - then on the router after the satellites come back (light on top goes solid blue and then out.)
See what lights mean here https://kb.netgear.com/31030/What-do-the-LEDs-on-my-Orbi-mean
Netgear are working on the not all devices are displayed issue and that will be fixed in the next firmware - but otherwise I am find 2.1.1.16 very solid. Uptime now for me is 4 days and 16 hours.
- wootiesDec 24, 2017StarWhatever I had with. 16 it's fine now. I found it rebooting randomly, disabled circle ran a few days.. Re enabled it and no random reboots now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
