Apple Music Streaming Not Working on iPhone Through Orbi RBR50 (Router & AP Mode)
I'm experiencing an issue where Apple Music won't stream songs on my iPhone when connected to my Orbi network. The app shows a "Resource Unavailable" error when trying to play songs.
System Details:
- Router: Orbi RBR50
- Firmware Version: V2.7.4.24 (latest)
- GUI Language Version: V1.0.0.423
- Currently in AP Mode (connected via ethernet to ISP router)
- Previously tested in Router Mode
Setup:
- Orbi is connected via ethernet to my ISP's provided router
- Tested in both Router Mode and AP Mode
- Using WPA2-PSK [AES] security
- IGMP Proxying was disabled in Router Mode (now inaccessible in AP Mode)
- Beamforming, MU-MIMO, and Fast Roaming all enabled
- Access Control is off with "Allow all new devices" selected
Important: The issue is specifically with Apple Music streaming. Here's what works and what doesn't:
Works:
- Apple Music streams perfectly through my ISP's WiFi
- Apple Music works fine on my MacBook when connected to Orbi
- Apple Music works on cellular data
- Downloaded tracks play normally
- All other internet services work fine through the Orbi
- Speed tests show strong connection
Doesn't Work:
- Streaming Apple Music on iPhone when connected to Orbi network (in both Router and AP Mode)
Troubleshooting Steps Already Tried:
1. Switched from Router Mode to AP Mode to eliminate double NAT
2. Reset network settings on iPhone
3. Disabled iCloud Private Relay
4. Disabled Private WiFi Address
5. Disabled IP address tracking in iPhone WiFi settings
6. Rebooted router multiple times
7. Factory reset Orbi and reconfigured
8. Manually set DNS on iPhone (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)
9. Disabled/re-enabled Sync Library
10. Deleted/reinstalled Apple Music app
11. Sign out/in of Apple ID
12. Checked for latest firmware (confirmed on V2.7.4.24)
13. Enabled all WiFi performance features (Beamforming, MU-MIMO, Fast Roaming)
14. Verified no Access Control restrictions
15. Tried both with and without IGMP Proxying (when in Router Mode)
Since the issue is specific to iPhone + Orbi + Apple Music (working fine on MacBook and ISP router), there seems to be a particular conflict between my iPhone and Orbi settings for this specific service. The fact that it doesn't work in either Router Mode or AP Mode suggests it's something specific to how the Orbi handles this type of traffic from iOS devices.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, particularly from others who might have experienced similar issues with Apple Music on Orbi networks.

Be sure to update the FW on the Orbi system:
RBS first, RBR lastly. I'd factory reset and setup from scratch afterwards. Then set AP mode.
Something to contact Apple about.
