AT&T Wifi Calling
Hi - I have seen a number of threads on this topic and was hoping there was some resolution. We are an AT&T household and are users of the Wifi Calling feature. We have a single Orbi router, ...
What mode is the Verizon router configured for? Router or Bridge mode? IF in router mode, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only by unchecking the box. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

The Router it is plugged into is a Verizon FIOS Quantum router.
I will try the following and report back:
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only by unchecking the box. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

I read about this when I first got the Orbi. I had Orbi Tech Support walk me through the setup and I think instead of disabling the Verizon router they had me rename the WIFI on that one to XXX-OLD and then name the Orbi WIFI to the name I had been using, so that my devices would connect to the Orbi. Then they had me REMOVE the Old Wifi connections from my devices.
Do you thinik this is not effective?
Did they turn OFF the wifi radios on the ISP Modem?
They also need to either bridge the modem or use the modems DMZ for the Orbi RBR...
Thanks to everyone for their help trying to troubleshoot this. I have tried the suggestions and wanted to report back to the group.
In the end, I think setting the Orbi to AP Mode seems to have been the most help. I am still testing but I think the consistency of the WiFi calling has improved noticeably since doing that.
For others having this problem - I did not have my FIOS router in bridge mode. Its frustrating because when I first got the Orbi I read the advice that you should not have both routers active at the same time, but Netgear Tech Support walked me through the setup and said that it would be fine this way.
But as people on this thread diagnosed, that setup can cause problems. And in my case, since I had not bridged my router, having the Orbi in router mode alongside my FIOS router seems to have been causing some issue.
Since putting it into AP Mode I have noticed and improvement in quality. Thanks for all the help. Will report back if anything changes!

Yes, having two routers on line will cause problems. Glad AP mode seemed to have solved it.
