Can I use a RBS40V (Orbi satellite with Alexa) as a standalone Alexa without a RBR50 mesh network
Can I use an old RBS40V (Orbi satellite with Alexa) as a standalone Alexa without a RBR50 mesh network? Can a RBS40V just be used as an Alexa on a different vendors LAN? I've replaced my RBR50 with a different vendors router... can the RBS40V just be a client on this new wifi network and just function as an Alexa (no satellite functionality).
The original RBS40V product supported only Orbi satellite mode:

The second version supports both Orbi satellite and "Connect to any WiFi router" modes:

Check the product label on the bottom of the case to see which version you have.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have the original RBS40V so I guess I'm out of luck. Alexa stopped working anyway ("I'm having trouble connecting" issue). Seems like Netgear could easily update the firmware to make this possible...but they won't. This is the last straw... after almost 20 years of exclusively using (buggy and unsupported) Netgear products, I'm switching to a different vendor. Goodby Netgear!
