Cannot access server Readyshare on iMac

I bought the Orbi router this month. It works fine except I can't connect it as a server to the Mac, and therfore cannot use it with an USB HDD.

I'm using iMac OS Sierra, and follow the recommended procedure Go>Connect to server> and type smb://readyshare or smb://192.168.1.1

I then get the message "La connexion au serveur a échoué", not even getting accesss to the window asking for admin password.

I browsed Internet for days without getting a clue what to do.

Any help? Thanks.

  • I do not believe Orbi supports sharing USB HDDs.  I believe it only supports printer sharing via the USB at this time.

If it accepts an HDD for time machine,(see kb.netgearsupport.com/21360)it must accept any HDD. but while trying to connect the server, I don't even get the pop up asking for a password for registered user and the connection fails.
I’m open to any good solution.
      Thanks

I don't believe it accepts an HDD--not for time machine nor anythign else.

Until Netgear adds this feature the only solution is to put your HDD on another device attached to the network.
