Cannot isolate 2.4ghz on RBR40
When I first started using my RBR40 years ago, it used to show separate wifi connections available for 2.4 and 5 ghz. It was also labeled showing 2.4 and 5 ghz. Now all I see is one connection that combines the two frequencies. I can't seem to locate a setting to show just the 2.4 ghz.
The reason I need to isolate the 2.4 ghz is to be able to connect a smart plug that uses this specific frequency. Is there a setting on the RBR40 to show just the 2.4 ghz?

Hello ev747,
Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!
Wi-Fi frequency separation is not supported by the RBR40. Please try connecting your IoT devices to the guest network to establish connectivity. If there are any issues with using the devices once connected please be sure to enable the "allow guests to see each other and access my local network" setting.
To enable guests to access your local network setting navigate to the following settings:
- Orbilogin.com
- BASIC
- Guest Network
- Check the "allow guests to see each other and access my local network" box
- Click APPLY
Best,

In some cases, routers combine the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands under a single network name, using a feature called "band steering" or "Smart Connect." This feature aims to automatically connect devices to the appropriate frequency band based on their capabilities and signal strength.
However, if you need to connect a device specifically to the 2.4 GHz network, you can try the following steps to check if there is an option to separate the bands on your Netgear RBR40 router:
Connect your computer or mobile device to your RBR40 router's network.
Open a web browser and enter the router's IP address in the address bar. The default IP address for Netgear routers is often http://192.168.1.1, but it may vary depending on your specific configuration. If you have changed the default IP address, use the updated one.
You will be prompted to enter your router's username and password. Enter the appropriate credentials to log in. If you haven't changed these, the default username is usually "admin" and the default password is "password" or "1234" (without quotes). If you have changed the login credentials and don't remember them, you may need to perform a factory reset on the router.
Once logged in, look for a wireless settings section or a similar option in the router's configuration interface.
Check for any options related to wireless frequencies, bands, or network modes. Look for settings that may allow you to disable the band steering feature or separate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
If you find an option to separate the bands, make sure it is enabled or set to "On."
Save the changes and wait for the router to apply the new settings. This process may take a few moments.
After the settings have been applied, check if you can see separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks on your device's Wi-Fi list.
If you don't find any specific option to separate the bands in the router's settings, it's possible that the RBR40 model does not have this feature available. In such cases, you may need to consider alternative solutions, such as using a different router that allows separate network names for each frequency band or utilizing a Wi-Fi range extender that supports the 2.4 GHz frequency for your smart plug.Remember to refer to the router's user manual or Netgear's support resources for more detailed instructions and information specific to your router model.
