Dec 26, 2024Cannot obtain ip address from ORBI
hello
I have an ORBI RBR50 + satellite and a TP link extender. The TP link extender merely extends the range of the RBR50 and has a few things connected to it. I have alot of devices connected to the RBR50, all using DHCP and obtain an IP address fine. Internet works fine.
Recently connecting my surface laptop has been giving me problems. If I connect with DHCP, and do an ipconfig /renew, I get an IP from the ORBI but then a few seconds later the ip disappears. If I set a static IP with the laptop, everything works fine. However when I login again, I get a 169 address instead of my static IP. If I change the static IP, everything works fine again.
If I connect the surface laptop to the TP link extender, everything works fine, static and DHCP.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? The laptop used to connect fine to the ORBI.
