It seems to work.
However, if I log on to the satellite itself, via webgui, it first shows a page that says
"Your Orbi Satellite is not connecting to the Orbi network"
It is however connected to the router.
I can then click "OK", to get to the main page.
At the top of the main page, it says
"Your access point has no connection to the router. Check your Ethernet connection."
As FURRYe38 pointed out, none of the people who regularly participate in the Community Forum have experience with converting the RBR50 to an RBS50. While the router firmware has an option to switch from 'router mode' to 'access point mode', there is no similar feature on the satellite. There are some Orbi products which have the ability to be either a satellite or an access point, such as the RBS40V and the RBS50Y. The RBS50 has no such option.
However, the wording of the question appears to imply that the device is performing as a "satellite". (i.e. "It seems to work.") Is that because:
- Devices connect to the device and have internet access?
- The router Attached Devices page shows it as a satellite? (at the top of the display)
- The Attached Devices page shows user devices connected to it?
