Connecting Orbi directly into BT ONT
Hi everyone, I've been using Orbi for a couple of years now with a RBR50 router and x2 satellites (very latest firmware all round). Today I moved off cable onto BT (UK ISP) fibre and hoping to get sp...

This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

BT supply a SmartHub 2 which is a combined router and wireless box. The thing is, Orbi is already a router so now the signal is going through 2 routers effectively which might be accounting for the perforamce drop. The SmartHub does not have a bridge mode but I have read that I can connect the Orbi direct to the new ONT box BT installed today.
If I simply unplug the Smarthub and connect the ONT direct to the yellow WAN connection on the Orbi its not working, so I'm missing something.
I have read that I might need to change some PPPOE settings but I cant understand why I'd need to do this because both the ONT box and the Orbi are powered off AC.
Can anyone guide me through the settings steps I'd need to take to make this work, as much detail as possible, you can see I'm in the weeds here.
Thanks alot
