Devices keep connecting to 2.4GHz on my Orbi RBK50

It's the device that chooses which radio band to connect to based on the relative strength of the signals coming from both bands and the noise on the respective bands.
It can be that there are other SSDID's from your neighbours using the same as your 5GHz channel and is stronger around where your Router is and weaker around your Satellite.
Please make a scan and try to select the most appropriate channels for both bands. This is vital for the performance of your wifi network.

My issue is actually the other way around. My devices connect to 5GHz just fine when I'm around my satellite. But once I'm closer to the main router, I get 2.4GHz even though I'm connected to the main router. When I check the Orbi app, all devices that are connected to the main router is getting 2.4GHz and all devices that are capable of getting 5GHz are getting 5GHz when connected to the satellite.
