Disconnects in AP mode on 1.12.0.18

The troubleshooting process can be tedious and time-consuming. I feel like I'm a beta tester without the advantage of not having to purchase the product. I have spent hours upon hours reading, testing, changing settings, moving around devices and etc... The Orbi takes about 3+ minutes to reboot. I'm going to think about my next step. The good thing is the Orbi still has high resale value on eBay. I will lose around $100+ if I auction it because I paid $350+ on Amazon but I don't want a paper weight sitting in my home. I have too much stuff to get rid of as it is.
For anyone who cares the ASUS Lyra is now available for preorder on Amazon. It's a little pricey though at $399 but it suppose to cover 6000sqft.

You are correct, you should not have to test. The ASUS Lyra looks very similar to the Google platform. The size of the radios and small antennas maybe an issue depending on your environment. Dont confuse connectivity, with through-put. If connectivity is good, but through-put is poor you may be unhappy as well.
If parential controls on orbi are crap NETGEAR should prioritize that functionality.
Confirm the parental controls meet your needs, and AP mode without a wired backhaul design will always be and issue. ASUS is a top brand but after working in the field of product development for 14+ years I dont think NETGEAR is doing this customer testing thing as a business model.
I want to see you find something that works for you. Do your research and buy extended warranty in you need to take it back. I wish I was local to you I would test your orbi in my environment.

Thanks for the feedback, I hope the Lyra ends up being a quality product. The throughput and connection have been a problem with the Orbi since my first week of purchase, trust me I know the difference in signal, throughput, and connection. The disconnecting bothered me more than anything but I have tested my Orbi and ASUS separately with the Speedtest app and my ASUS has been better in speed and in reliability.
I have 2 Netgear Arlo Pros and even the cameras are flakey the video is choppy, motion detection issues and it's very common for the screen to show a green tint overlay on the picture. So having 2 different Netgear products in my home that have given me trouble. I don't have a lot of trust in the Netgear brand right now.
I haven't had a problem with any ASUS product I have purchased so far.
Now with new Firmware I have a 2.4GHz radio on for which I have zero use contributing to the interference in an already congested neighborhood and NO way to turn it off or turn the signal down!! How nice to have a 2.4GHz radio with no assigned SSID running for which I have no use brilliant design! Why Netgear why did you take away the ability to turn off or reduced power on 2.4GHz?
