Hello. The manufacturer is PACE for the 5268AC. The latest firmware for that device is badly broken for DMZ+. I'm not sure if that's the root cause but the workaround offered by ATT was to actually disable DMZ+ until updated firmware is released. You can search ATT forum and you can't miss the thread. Verrrry long. The workaround is marked as the solution.

Here is the lurid history around the 5258AC and DMZ+.
The bottom line here is unless the user is able to follow the instructions to manually downgrade the firmware on the Pace unit, the RBK50 will never see the full benefit of a gigabit connection. ATT will not push a downlevel version of the firmware and they will not mail a different gateway. The only proven solution to get a different gateway is to have a technician deliver it.
Yes, and it would be recommended to get into a different gateway OR something thats just a modem ONLY that doesn't have any router or wifi built in.

This gets a bit into a gray area. ATT doesn't work like a DOCSIS 3.1 modem, meaning you can't just got to BestBuy and get a modem for a VDSL2 copper or Fiber connection. The standard policy is to use one of 3 available gateways. The newest available gateway is an Arris BGW210-700 and is the better performer. This is the one I have. WiFi is disabled and I use the Ethernet ports to serve IPTV traffic to Uverse TV service, and of course one port in IP Passthrough for the Orbi.
If you look around in DSLReports there is method some people use to connect their own routers directly to the ONT bypassing the gateway altogether.
Of course, some ISPs, mostly DSL, don't offer more than what they support or BYOM. So for those ISP, users can be limited. Thus using Orbi will be a bit more problematic, so DMZ and AP mode are options for users to try in these cases.

Add IP Passthrough to your vocabulary. People with Arris devices won't understand DMZ or DMZ+.
Seems a shame and wasteful to use such a high powered and expensive device to be relegated to merely functioning as an access point.
