Feature Request: Orbi Satellite Ethernet Backhaul
As good as Orbi looks on paper I don't understand Y you would cut yourself so short and not support Eithernet backhaul for the satellites, I have 5 locations needing a system like this but without su...

Let me acknowledge that our customer base has been clamoring for this feature for a while, and we are trying to be responsive to their needs. To provide context on why it's taking a while to get it out, during the first quarter, the Orbi Engineering team was focused on bringing out the two new products (RBK30 & RBK40) to market. Now that it's accomplished, we're actively working on bringing this feature and a couple of other interesting, market-requested features to you.

I would also really like to see wired backhaul. I live in a large home and just cannot place the router in the center point in the home (the Kitchen/living room, which are off limits for tech gadgetry). As a result, the router on one edge of the house cannot reach the other side, no matter how many satellites I use.
However, the whole house is wired, so if they were able to communicate via backhaul, I could cover all areas easily.
Unfortunately I'll have to return mine until the feature shows up as the setup isn't usable for me without it.

If your whole house is already wired, a far better soulution than Orbi or any "mesh" system is to install a few wired access points.

Agreed, and that's actually what I have now (prior to purchasing the Orbi).
However, I liked the idea of the simplicity of the Orbi using a single SSID with higher speeds. It so far generally delivers the higher speeds, but the coverage is actually quite a bit worse, so I'll be switching back to the multi-AP setup I had prior.

myrison You can absolutely have multiple wired APs with a single SDID. I have that now with Unifi APs but you can probably do it with other brands, including Netgear.

st_shaw - To clarify, I meant a single SSID across 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. I've not had a lot of success with my clients doing that on a set of Asus access points, but I haven't tried for a couple of years now. Maybe it's time to give it another whirl. Thanks for the suggestion.
