Free DDNS from netgear now require monthly confirmation from No-IP?

Did something change this year where the free DDNS by Netgear, hosted by NO-IP, now require monthly confirmations? I saw a post here in 2017 there was a bug on NO-IPs side. I opened a case from them ...

       Is Google blocked where you are?  It auto-completed most of my query.

When I signed up with No-IP.com (2018?) I was surprised to find that the "Free" host name required confirmation every 30 days. Not wanting the hassle, I purchased the five hosts names for an annual fee.
