Getting error 404 on some websites
Hi, I use a Netgear Nighthawk M1 connected to the ATT network. I use it as a stand-alone hotspot when I travel and at my home connected by Ethernet to my Orbi system. It was working perfectly at ...

This is an indication that you have multiple routers in the network (Orbi in Router Mode and the Nighthawk). Seems that the Nighthawk is not correctly bridged and is still acting as a router.

After a reset, the M1 shows 13 connections (router mode) but only shows 1 when put into bridge mode. Wouldn’t this indicate that it went into bridge mode?

1. Just to confirm, can you please open a Command Prompt on any computer attached to Orbi and type:
> tracert 8.8.8.8 (or traceroute 8.8.8.8 if you're using a Mac computer)
What will be the first two hops?
2. What is the setting of the DNS configuration in Orbi? This issue can very well be caused by the DNS configuration. Try different settings (e.g. try 8.8.8.8 as DNS) and see if things improve.

Very strange that the first 4 hops are private IP addresses! I think the 10.0.0.1 is Orbi's gateway IP address, I wonder what the 10.78.87.1 is? Can it be the Nighthawk's way out?
Can you please connect a computer to Nighthawk directly and make the same traceroute command.
Also, have you tried to change the DNS IP address in the web GUI under >> ADVANCED >> Setup >> Internet Setup >> to "Use these DNS Servers and try 8.8.8.8 as primary and 8.8.4.4 as secondary and see if you will get any improvement.
- TexasbillOct 30, 2019AspirantI used the 8.8.8.8 as you suggested and it seemed to work. I have been able to get on websites that previously gave me a 404 error. I’m just not sure why this worked as I never touched the Orbi settings. I just removed the Nighthawk to take with me on vacation. I just assumed that I could plug it back in and put it in bridge mode? Could removing the Nighthawk have changed the DNS? In any case....thank you!
