This may be a semantic question.  "Satellite" and "Access Point" are technically different things.

An Orbi satellite definitely can be connected to the Orbi router with ethernet.  As this Netgear web page shows:

    https://kb.netgear.com/000051205/What-is-Ethernet-backhaul-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-Orbi-WiFi-System

Notice that the connection goes from one of the Orbi LAN ports to any of the satellite LAN ports.  So the connection path is:

Modem to Orbi router. Orbi router to Orbi satellite.

The problem many people face who have ethernet wires to every room is that their Orbi is not located at the wiring hub, and there in only one ethernet cable connecting the wiring hub and the Orbi router (leaving no ethernet cable to run back to the wiring hub and then connect to the satellite.)
