I want to upgrade my Virgin Hub 3 WiFi system to a smart home system that supports smart TVs with streaming, iphones, computers, doorbell, Virgin TiVo TV boxes, heating controls, Alexa and most importantly Sky Q TV
My current WiFi works reasonably well on the fastest Virgin broadband (350) although on occasions Sky drops its internet connection and some places in the house give poor access to tablet computers. I need something that will extend the range and boost signals. I want something that will allow growth in future months and years to about 20 concurrent devices. Ideally I want a solution that can be extended when necessary
My property is a normal two floors detached house of about 4300 square feet. My electrical wiring is very good. I have three separate ring mains joining at a single electrical distribution box. (which make Powerline extenders not an option)
I just cancelled an order with Amazon for an Orbi RBK 23 because I discovered online that Orbi will not work with Sky Q.
I would prefer a Netgear solution as I already have a Netgear extender and I like Netgear products
I don’t need an answer straight away and am happy for you to pass this to a Netgear technical specialist who can consider and answer at their convenience.
In the meantime can you please tell me if I can use an additional Netgear range extender to deal with one of my WiFi dead spots which would mean having two Netgear WiFi extenders on the same hub 3 network.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Alas, Netgear created community forums so that customers can discuss with each other. In four years, I have never seen anyone on the forum identified as a Netgear employee. With Netgear offering only 90 days of "complimentary support", many of us turned to the forums when we had questions and wanted to try the forums before paying for GearHead support. So, there is nobody to pass this to.
The first review of Virgin Media Hub 3 that I found was not complimentary: https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/wireless-routers/1407886/virgin-media-hub-3-review Searches on "virgin hub 3 alternative" or "Virgin Hub 3 replacement" give theimpression that any modern WiFi router will connect to a Virgin Media Hub 3 once it is placed in "modem mode." In that case, "the sky's the limit". Orbi, Nighthawk, or any of the newer mesh routers will produce much more WiFi coverage.
My guess is that Sky TV being a major requirement may significantly limit the alternatives. Not being in the UK, I have no background on how Sky TV "works". There are many posts on the Orbi forum that mention Sky.
