HP laptop connects to Orbi but no internet

My sons HP laptop connects to Orbi but always says no internet. We have tried forgetting the network but can’t get it to work. All other devices are fine

This sounds a lot like this specific device has been "Paused" by the Orbi App or Blocked by the Orbi web browser interface.

Which specific Orbi system is this?

How is it administered? (app or web?)

Can you use the web interface to verify that Access Control is enabled (or disabled)?

I assume that this is a WiFi connection and a Windows laptop.

The first place to start is in Windows. Try running its Network Troubleshooter.

Windows likes to protect us from new networks that might be evil. In  reality, it often shuts us out of safe networks.

One thought is that you could tell Windows that you are on a "private network".

    • Network and Internet settings
    • Network Status
    • Change Connection Properties
    • Network Profile
    • Private

I'm told that this is rubbish advice. But it has worked for me and others in the same boat.

I had to use it recently to rescue my connection on two PCs and a new router that clearly didn't pass the Microsoft smell check.
