HI,
I have just set up a timer for guests in an airbnb who have been using sooo much data. Does the timer have a countdown? What happens when they reach the limit?
They are staying for a month ...

(Caveat: I have never enabled a Guest WiFi timer.)
My guess is that you are going to be disappointed. It is really clear from the mechanics that the Guest WiFi timer defines the length of time that the Guest WiFi network will be active. This would have little to do with how much data they consume during that time.
A house full of people doing internet gaming and streaming videos can consume 100 times more data than what most families do in the same number of hours.
My guess is also that what will happen is the WiFi signal will disappear and your phone will soon ring off the wall, "There's NO WiFi. Fix it."
The point of this feature appears to be to allow an Orbi owner to enable the Guest WiFi for a set amount of time and then have it disappear without having to turn it off.d Say, for a party or family gathering.
Probably a good time to query Air BnB about what the statement, "Has WiFi" promises. Can they sue or demand a partial refund if the WiFi has a data cap or cuts off?
Might also be a good time to consult the Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the context of usage caps or overage fees. (I just checked my Spectrum account and there is zero information about my historical usage and no mention of data cap or overage fee). There have been comments on the forum over the years expressing concern over usage, so it appears that some ISPs do impose caps or charge fees for "going over".

Thanks CrimpOn . Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have been wondering how to do it, and best I can come up with is inform on my airbnb site that WiFi is limited to 100gb per month, which should be adequate for emails, an occasional movie etc... and not for endless downloads/streaming etc. . (This is the first guest I have had stay for a month chewing through the data...)...
I have 2 sims, so I just ensure the one in Orbi has the 100 gb on it, and they can go for it. Up to them how they want to use it over the month, I am not their mother. Once 100 gb used, the data speed is just extremely slow - however can still access necessary things on the internet. Then I control how much data is on the sim each time. They still have their own guest password.
Best i can think of at moment, rather than using the time guest time limit. I only would use the guest password access when guest there, and then just turn it off. However the data is managed via my data provider.
