Implicit Beamforming
I understand that Orbi has built in Explicit beamforming for devices. My question is if I turn on Implicit Beamforming does that automatically disable the Explicit beamforming or can they run concurr...

Its one or the other. Not both.
It's recommended to have Beamorming enabled. Along with WMM and MIMO if your devices support MIMO.

I turned on Implicit Beamforming and my phone jumped from 125 Mbps down to 400 Mbps, but my laptop dropped from 172 Mbps down to 54 Mbps.
Could me turning on the Implicit Beamforming be the cause of this? For reference, I did not move my laptop to a different location, both tests were done in the same room.
I have the Orbi RBK53 model.

Explicit Beamforming is better than Implicit correct? So if Implicit disables Explicit, wouldn't I want to not enable Implicit, and just go with the built-in Explicit?
Not being obtuse, just new to beamforming technology.

Implicit seems to work better then Explicit on Orbi. You can do both on a wifi router. It's one of the other. Most of the time having Beamforming enabled benefits the connected devices.
