Is Backhaul also using 2.4GHz?
I have my Orbi 2.4GHz Channel set to 11. Using either inSSIDer Home or WiFi Commander, I see the signals form the Orbi router and each of my Satellites on channel 11. At about the same signal strengt...

Nothing from the Netgear engineers yet, so I assume they haven't figured out what is going on with my Orbi. Looking at some of the debug logs, the SSID of the hidden 2.4GHz signal is identical to the SSID of the backhaul on 5GHz. Returned my Orbi to Costco.

1-1/2 hours on the phone with tech support today. They called me to follow up on my case. Collected a bunch of info off my Orbi router and reflashed the firmware. No changes yet. They will get back to me when they figure out what is going on with my router.

I have a 1250w microwave oven in the kitchen which is located between the Orbi router and satellite. Everytime we run the microwave oven the devices connected to the satellite disconnect and reconnect several times. I only use 5ghz wifi radio on the Orbi. The 2.4ghz wifi radio is turned off.
This behavior makes me think 2.4ghz is also used in the backhaul communication between the Orbi router and satellite.

Poking around in the config files for the APs it seems that there are provisions to use both 2.4 and 5 for backhaul although I'm not sure if 2.4 is actually used.

this makes me think you better get a new microwave as its leaking a lot to effect the orbi if more than a few feet away
