Is Orbi compatible with Honeywell RTH8500WF wifi thermostat?

I just purchased the Honeywell RTF8500WF wifi 7-day programmable thermostat and can't get it to connect to my home wifi. I keep getting a "connection failed No IP Address" message. I called Honeywell support and they had me turn on my phone hotspot and try to connect ot that. Worked great. Connected without any issues. Now I'm wondering if there is a problem with my Orbi recognizing the thermostat so it won't issue it an IP. Help please.

    there seems to be an issue with a few of the IoT devices and connecting to the orbi esp if the sat is involved

     

    try going to the orbi router gui and

     

    advanced/advanced setup / wireless settings

     

    and untick

     

    Enable Implicit BEAMFORMING - Boosts WiFi speed, reliability, & range for all mobile devices

     

    and apply

     

    then try connecting the thermostat again

     

    see if that helps

      I never could get that model to work so I ended up buying an upgraded (i.e. more expensive) Honeywell thermostat and it connected flawlessly. Thanks for the help because Netgear support wasn't helpful at all.
