Is there such a thing as being too close to the router?
My router is in a closet in the center of the house about 6' off the floor. It is about 20 feet from the head of the bed in the master bedroom. The satellite is at the other end of the house about ...
I finally switched from the Orbi to an R8000. I use the Orbi in my pole barn. All my problems went away.

Wired backhaul is -for sure- more robust than wireless, but you should get better backhaul throughput (up to 1.7 Gbps) on wireless if you have an RBK50.
