Macbook sticking on 2.4ghz and not moving to 5ghz on Orbi RBR50
My Macbook Pro 13" is unable to connect to the 5Ghz network as it stays on the 2.4Ghz. My speeds on the Macbook are in the 5-14 Mbps download and go as low as 1Mpbs during the day. My Samsung S10 pho...

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What OSX Version are you using on the MBP? I use 10.14.6 and mines connected to 5Ghz.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz. I use 11 and 48 on mine.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

My Samsung S10 phone on the same Wifi network, connects to the 5Ghz and consistantly gets speeds in the 70-80 Mpbs.
How do I either force the Macbbok to connect to 5Ghz which might not be possible? Or can I create a 5Ghz only SSID for the MacBook to connect to without having to Telnet?
Addiitionally, if I reset the router, my speeds increase for a few minutes then it drops down again.

What Firmware version is currently loaded? (v2.5.1.16)
What OSX Version are you using on the MBP? (Version 10.15.5)
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? (AT&T Uverse NG with fiber into the house. 1Gbps is what I am paying for. )
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? (I get blue lights so it appears to be close enough to. The Main RBR50 is about 6 feet from the cable model connected via ethernet.)
What channels are you using? (Switched the 2.4Ghz to channel 1 and left 5Ghz at 48. Just did a speed test and download 150Mbps and upload 30 Mpbs)
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many? (1 neighbors wifi which is 2 bars on wifi)
I noticed when I changed Preamble to short on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, my speed drastically droppped. The images is a screen shot of my advanced settings. Only issues now is upload speed should be higher.
What about Router Mode vs AP Mode? Would that have any impact on my speed? Right now it is in Router Mode.
Appreciate the help.

(AT&T Uverse NG with fiber into the house. 1Gbps is what I am paying for. ) If this has a built in router, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.I would try option #3...

What channels are you using? (Switched the 2.4Ghz to channel 1 and left 5Ghz at 48. Just did a speed test and download 150Mbps and upload 30 Mpbs) So is this better? Is the mac book connected at 5Ghz?

AP mode would be recommended since you have a ATT modem/router that can't be fully bridged.
Appreciate the help.
