Make ORBI Router to Satellite

Here is my issue:

In last 2-3 weeks my internet has been very slow (my usual download is 40Mbps).  I have an ORBI RBR50 and Satellite RBS50 since 3 or 4 years (not sure how long).

My main router is downstairs in family room (no basement), Satellite is upstairs in main bedroom.  My older's son bedroom is opposite of our bedroom and the main router.  His access drop to about 5-10 Mbps.

We had many issues in last 3 weeks about accessing anything however our internet access remains at 35-45 Mbps when tested at the modem.

I'm thinking to get a 3 pieces ORBI RBK23 (and 2 satellites); I know I can probably pair my current satellite to this new system (I assume), but could I make the the old Router a Satellite in the new system?

It will allows me to put 1 satellite in each bedroom and use ethernet plugs in the back to plug my kids Xbox and Computers.

Is it possible?  All Satellites will probably be about 30-40 Feet from each others.

Thanks for helping, I'm getting frustrated (and my family even more) about this situation.

Thierry

PS: My current system is running firmware 2.5.1.16 and I have about 20-25 equipments on WIFI.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

Basements are not recommended places for wifi routers. Concrete and steel will effect wifi signal strength and travel.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
    Not seen on Orbi AX.
Also try turning down the power output of the RBRs wifi radios from 100% to 50% and see if this changes anything. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
