Manual updating RBS50 Satellite to FW v2.5.1.16
Hi. I'm running a RBK50 set up with the RBR50 router and a single RBS50 satellite. I've a quick question on manual updating of the RBS50 satellite.
So, until yesterday I had FW v2.3.5.30 installed on both the RBR50 and RBS50. (Found that FW version to be rock solid, and always a bit hesitant to install new FW until it's thoroughly user-tested). The auto FW check function showed no new FW available, so I downloaded the v2.5.1.16 files for both the RBR50 and RBS50 to upgrade manually.
I uploaded the file to upgrade the RBR50 router first. Router showed 'updating FW', and restarted as expected. The thing that surprised me is that the RBS50 satellite now also showed v2.5.1.16 as well as the RBR50 router - even though I hadn't manually uploaded the file for the satellite.
Is that normal?
Everything seems to be working fine. I had to turn off/on and re-sync the satellite after the update but, other than that, everything seems peachy.
Great if someone could confirm that manually updating the router also does the satellite (then why have separate files?!)
Thanks, and stay safe peeps :smileyhappy:

Sometimes the RBR and RBS may be out of sync. By experiences seen here in the forums and from what NG recommends, the RBS should always be updated first, then the RBR lastly. We've seen it where the RBR is updated first then the RBS becomes out of sync and looses connection between the RBR and itself as the FW was not graduated on the RBS. So the conclusion was and now seems to be that if users update the system manually, users need to download both RBS and RBR FW files, update the RBS first, then RBR lastly. This will keep the RBS in sync with RBR and the new FW being applied.
If the RBS is still connected, and you have access to it's web page, you can manually apply the RBS FW to the RBR there.

I have seen this occur as well with manual updates. I do not know how or why it automatically updates the satellites firmware when updating the router first. If it works, then it is not a problem.
