Mixed Lan with orbi AC3000
I have the following product Orbi AC3000 Tri-band WiFi Router (RBR50) and I would like to create a mixed local area network using a network switch to connect devices such as pc, smart tv, printer and...

Those will work find until your ready to upgrade.
I recommend getting the non (E) versions of the switches.
I found a bit cheaper pricing by getting used or refurb'd equipment.Good Luck.

ok, then I'll cancel the cable order. Could you kindly show me some 6a stp cables to use together with the terminations, one side should be inserted into the switch while the other should be inserted into the wall, as if it were a socket.

I'd tend to suggest strict wiring schemes only, avoiding these CP style cables.
There are modern installation systems available in the market, in modern buildings, unshielded UTP CAT6A and CAT7 cables can be deployed trouble-free up to 10 GbE, and almost tool-less installable - just a sharp side cutter plier is all you need for unshielded as well as shielded cables:
If you plan more, link speeds beyond of 10GBASE-T, there are wonderful cable connector modules available from the industry, even for RJ45 connectors. For example, the R&Mfreenet Cat 8.1 shielded connection module, part of the freenet cabling system, are ideal for very fast data transmissions and high bandwidth applications. This high-performance Cat 8.1 module is perfect for use in 25/40 Gigabit Ethernet (25GBASE-T / 40GBASE-T) and future high-speed applications up to 2000 MHz.

Will the following switch work if connected to the orbi 960 router?
Zyxel MG-108 Unmanaged 2.5G Ethernet - pierre22Sep 15, 2023Aspirant
The telephone operator's modem has an optical fiber input, 4 gigabit LAN ports, a WAN port for possible ONT connection, two USB and two telephone inputs.
How do I pass the 2.5GB speed from the modem to the Orbi 960 router and from this to the switch? - FURRYe38Sep 15, 2023Guru - Experienced User
Something to ask the ISP about. They will have info on how to connect a external router to t here modem/ONT.
- pierre22Sep 16, 2023Aspirant
Is this other type of LAN network feasible with 2.5GB fiber in order to share the bandwidth?
- FURRYe38Sep 16, 2023Guru - Experienced User
Something to ask the ISP about. If there modem or ONT has a router, then the pictured configuration would be possible. If the Modem or ONT doesnt' have a built in router, then you can only have one or the other configuration. I presume your wanting the Orbi config. That works for the modem or ONT with out a built in router.
Contact the ISP to see what is going to be installed at your place and what can be connected.
- pierre22Sep 16, 2023AspirantThe modem has an integrated router with optical socket.
This is the modem:

You''ll be in a double NAT condition if you use the Orbi in router mode. It can be configure though.
Disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Try option #2 first...

Then that won't happen then. If there is no 2.5Gb LAN port on the modem and all there is is just 1Gb ports, then this will be max rate you'll ever see from that modem/router.

Yes, strange design for a CPE. What we see here in Central Europe are CPEs with multiple MultiGig ports (typically 2.5 GbE), or a fast 10 GbE port.

You might ask the ISP if they have a ONT with a 2.5Gb WAN port with out the built in wifi and router, then you can connect it to the 960 series. Then you'd get 2.5Gb on the LAN side of the RBR.

Is the following product good?
NETGEAR 8-port Smart Ethernet Switch GS308T, https://www.netgear.com/it/business/wired/switches/smart/gs308t/ - FURRYe38Sep 20, 2023Guru - Experienced User
A non managed switch for use with Orbi 50 series is recommended if your going to ethernet connect the RBS to the RBR: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/gs308v3
If your going to use the 960 series and what the RBS ethernet connected using 2.5Gb LAN ports, you'll need one of these: XS505M and GS110MX work great with the 9 series.

Is an unmanaged switch better to connect to the orbi rbk50?
- FURRYe38Sep 20, 2023Guru - Experienced User
Yes.
- pierre22Sep 20, 2023Aspirant
Why?
- FURRYe38Sep 20, 2023Guru - Experienced User
Manages switches are not needed unless your doing some high end networking configurations.
Manages switches have some features that can block ethernet connected RBS from fully syncing.
Non managed switches are easy and keep connections and such simple. Less hassle when troubleshooting is needed.

Is cat 6 cable good for a 3-story LAN network?
- FURRYe38Sep 28, 2023Guru - Experienced User
Yes.
CAT6A STP for good connection rates if you jump to 2.5Gb or higher supported connections and devices.

The electrician installed cat.6 cables for me, but the cable that goes from the DVR to the modem is cat. 5e, it is about 20 meters from the modem, what do I do, change that too or not?

Just try it. Constant refrains to buy a "go fast" cable don't seem to have any basis in real life. (Maybe they come from people who use gold cables in their hifi.)
For many applications, "slow" cables will work just fine. In this case, there will be limited traffic that does not need to run at a gazillion miles an hour.
You don't say what this DVR is, what LAN speed it expects to see, but these aren't usually the fastest devices around.
- pierre22Sep 30, 2023AspirantI have to connect a TV and the DVR to a switch, which will be connected to the modem and to another switch I will connect three PCs and a printer as well as another TV, in this way can I create a high-performance LAN network?

Your description suggested that it was the only thing on that link.
TVs are often 100 Mbps on the LAN.
Why not just try it before you spend any more money on wiring that might not be needed?
