Moving from VM Busines to Vodafone
I'm in the process of switching from Virginmedia Business braodband to Vodafone Residential 910Mbps. I had the VM router in modem only mode and used my RBR50 as router with 3 RBS50 satellites which ...

I'll try it in AP mode (seems to be the easisest option).
Thanks
Easiest but maybe not the most effective.
I faced the same choice with a horrid BT HomeHub. I wanted to use my MK93 Mesh network with it. The DMZ turned out to be the best option. AP mode disables too much useful stuff.
If nothing else, DMZ mode makes it easier to access both the modem/router and the router without having to track down IP addresses for the AP and satellites.

There doesn't seem to be any way to enable DMZ on the Vodafone router. All I can see is something called Exposed Host which sounds unsafe.

It may sound unsafe, but what it probably means that the Vodafone box leaves it to the Netgear router to protect you. It is your choice as to which you expect to keep your protection up to date.
For serious defence, Netgear tries to sell you a subscription to Armor.
Does Vodafone have a user community forum that you can turn to for advice?

I did a complete reboot of my system (wall box, router, Orbi & satellites) and all seems to be working correctly at last.
I have the rbr50 in AP mode.
What are the security implications of that versus using the DMZ on the VF router?- michaelkenwardFeb 16, 2025Guru - Experienced User

The VF thing may warn about the dangers of the DMZ, but that does not take account of what you get from the Orbi. Then you have to throw in your level of paranoia.

Exposed Host is same as DMZ. If you use eitherone, make sure you have the RBR in Router mode so that the RBR will be the firewall for your devices.
