Can a gigabit switch be connected to the NETGEAR RBK53 Orbi Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System to add extra ethernet ports?

Ensure the switch is a non managed switch is preferred. Use good quality LAN cable. CAT6 preferred.
Yes. Connect the switch to one of the Ethernet ports on the Orbi.
