So. My router and one satelite is updated. The other two not. Even after countless factory resets, the router do not recognize the satelites, how am I going to set it up from scratch then?
I have forced the same firmware on all four units now, factory reset on all l... guess what orbi GUI (or app) tells me? No satelites found....

I have had this happen before, here is the solution that to the issue...
- Login into your Orbi router
- Navigate to the “Advanced” tab
- Go to “Advanced Settings”
- Go to Wireless Settings; under the “Backhaul Topology “ section of those settings, hit the “Generate” button. Sometimes the Orbi satellites will forget the backhaul password if the router (or vice versa) is off for a long period of time.
- Resync Satellites and they should all now appear in the router’s GUI. You’ll then be able to update them as you would.

Hope this resolves the issue,
- LoboTommyApr 23, 2019LuminaryThat, theorbimechanic, seems to be the closest I have ever seen to a meaningfull solution. I just might have to set up the orbis again and try this.

Let us know how it goes.
The system should come back for you. I would try one satellite at a time, work with one untill it's back online and working. Then turn it off and go to the next one. Do this untill each one is re-sync'd. Once there all done. Then go and place them in there remote locations and turn them on. I would disable Diasy chain first on the RBR, then turn on the satellites.

as i tried to set it up now, I randomly cheked the "Logs".... could this have something to do with my very very unstable network? (I have still only connected the router, so no satelites are set up yet)

Yes.
What are the devices at the following IPs?
192.168.1.2 and 192.168.10.###?
What is the Mfr and model of the ISP modem again?
The Orbi in Router or AP mode?
Please type in a text diagram of how you have the RBR connected to the ISP modem. Just so we know about this configuration.
Still using v44?

My ISP is Altibox fiber network 500/500
My modem is FMG3542 - normally set in bridged mode, so the Orbi are normally set to ... Router mode? (Where do i locate that?)
192.168.1.2 are generally my first satelite. and 192.168.10. are unknown to me.
At the moment 192.168.1.2 are my main computer, as the RBR still won't locate the first RBS - even after following the conigurationsteps recommended
- FURRYe38Apr 23, 2019Guru - Experienced User
Are you sure the modem is full bridge mode? The RBR should be seeing a public IP address, ##.##.###.### from the modem if fully bridged. Should not be a 192, 10 or maybe a 172 address on the WAN port of the Orbi.
If so, then the RBR should be in Router mode under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Router Mode.
What FW version is on the RBR and the RBS?
When your trying to sync the first RBS, is the distance about 4 feet. It can be this close while trying to add a satellite.

at this moment, I'm not allowed by family to diconnect the running wirless from the FMG, so i just plugged the orbi into one of the ports in the FMG. But nomally when the Orbi runs smoothly, it is solid bridged.
Distance when connectin now is about 30 feet, as the router is on the other side of the living room of to the PC.
When in full bridge mode - what setting of the RBR is correct? Router mode or the other?
I am now manually forcing v44 on the satelites, and keeping that on the router (i dont need japanese)
- FURRYe38Apr 23, 2019Guru - Experienced User
Ok. so normally when you have Orbi running, you have the modems WIFI disabled when not bridged? This needs to be disabled on the modem if you have the Orbi running.
Yes when modem is fully bridged and wifi disabled, Router mode should be selected on the RBR.
Possible if the satellites were behind on FW then his maybe the reason they were not conneting. RBS have to be updated first before the RBR and be on the same version of FW or RBS can be on a more current version while the RBR can be on a older version of FW. RBS can't be behind in FW versions from the RBR.

SO, one satelite is up an running. Shutting it off, and start working on the nest. Taking 20 minute brake now to pick up GF in town
- FURRYe38Apr 23, 2019Guru - Experienced User
Ok, that gives us conformation of the configuration. Thank you.
So after getting the RBS updated to v44. Factory reset just 1 of them. Turn OFF the others. When you see the top led pulsating WHITE on the RBS, Press the sync button on the RBR then press sync button on the 1 RBS while in the same room as the RBR. Give up to 5 minutes and you should see the top led on the RBS turn BLUE...Lets see if we can get to this point. :smileyfrustrated:

So, when trying to connect the second orbi, it "connected" but in status it said "config sys", ring turns amber, and log says

Did you factory reset the RBS then try to re-sync?
- LoboTommyApr 23, 2019Luminary
yup
- LoboTommyApr 23, 2019Luminary
should i do the "genreate" in the backhsul topology now as well? or was it enough the first time?
- FURRYe38Apr 23, 2019Guru - Experienced User
Try a reboot on the RBR. Power OFF the RBS then back on then press the sync buttons. IF this fails on the 2nd RBS, move on to the next RBS.
Might try the generate new PW for RBS process as well...
Someone else with this similar issue not to long ago...
How complex is the admin and Wifi PW on the RBR?
- LoboTommyApr 23, 2019Luminary
Wifipassword is the standard that comes along with the RBR20.
Admin PW is as follows Ipconfig12345 (only using different letters)
- LoboTommyApr 23, 2019Luminary
you said something about reserving the IP adresses for the RBS's. how do i do that?
