For a non-tech person, how do I find the firmware for the R40 since I can't get it to connect?

I think someone had found that if you hardwire into the orbi satellites and they aren't connected to anything that their default ip address is 192.168.1.250. You can try that route.
Have you tried to sync using the app or even just using the hardwired sync buttons on the orbi units?

Another option you have is utilizing your free 90 days of support.....
