New PC connecting mostly at 2.4GHz or slow 5G
Hi all,
My new HP Pavillion is connecting weakly to the router (and satellite). Mostly at 2.4GHz and rarely 5G, but super slow. All other devices at the same physicial location connect at 5G with full speed. No hardware problems and all drivers updated on the PC (endless hours with support).
Am I exceeding device capacity for this router? (3 connecting at 2.4GHz and 7 at 5G). Compatibility? Is there a change in settings on the router that would solve this? Do I need a new router?
Thank you!

10 devices is almost nothing for modern WiFi routers. I have about 40 and have seen posts mentioning over 100 devices. Most do not consume much bandwidth (Internet of Things gizmos), but a lot of users are streaming multiple video streams at the same time as typical web activity.
WiFi is extremely sensitive to antenna placement. How is this computer located relative to the router and satellite?
How far away? Behind any metallic objects? Inside a bookcase? Down in a corner under a desk?
It might help to find the user manual for this specific computer describing where the antennas are located.
Can you provide more detail about other devices "at the same physical location". Does that mean "same house" or "when I sit at the computer keyboard, my smartphone/table/laptop connect at 5G and high speed." There is always a chance that the computer is defective.
