New RBK23 System Installation
I currently have a Fios-GT1100 running my home wireless. I want to add the Orbi RBK23 system, but have it setup with the same SSID that my Fios has so that I don't have to change all of my devices. ...
I have the exact same installation...
First, turn off your Orbi router and satellites and disconnect the ethernet cable from your Orbi to your GT1100.
Next, log in to your GT1100 setup (192.168.1.1) and turn off both 2.4 & 5 Ghz wireless.
Apply and log out. (disregard the warnings)
Reconnect your ethernet cable from the GT00 to your Orbi router.
Power on your Orbi router.
Power on your Orbi Satellites.
Use the Orbi App on your mobile device to complete the installation setup.
Worked like a champ for me.
BTW... Even though your Orbi has the same SSID and password as your GT1100 you will still need to re-enter the password on your wireless devices the first time you connect with the Orbi system.
