the status for that satellite says no internet. Could it be defective?
"could it be defective" - well, anything is possible. Before tossing it out, it might be worth some more investigation.
(I am a bit of a curmudgeon - OK, a LOT - and it's just my opinion, but....) Whoever programmed the Firmware Update feature on the Orbi chose some pretty goofy phrases to display. Such as, "Downloading Firmware" and then later displaying "No new firmware available". Then what the Sam Hill was being downloaded? Obviously, "downloading" is just another word for "checking for". Likewise, that the heck does "no internet" mean in this context?
It might be worth experimenting with this satellite. such as
- Turn off WiFi on a mobile device (phone, laptop, tablet) and carry the device close to this satellite.
- Enable WiFi on the device and connect to the Orbi system.
- Wait a couple of minutes.
- Connect to the Orbi system using the web interface or the Orbi 'app' and see which unit this device shows for a connection.
If there is a device with an Ethernet port (Apple TV, laptop, speaker...) connect it to the satellite and see if it "works".
