Try syncing the RBS first suing wireless sync.
Also if you can get the RBS to sync, you might update FW as well. v.24 is available.

Hello omolko,
Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!
Thank you for your post!
I understand that you are having difficulties syncing your RBS50 to your RBR50. Please factory reset your RBS50 then sync the satellite to your RBR50.
Best,
Kevin

Please excuse if I have misread the situation....
After a satellite has been Factory Reset, it must be "Added" to the Orbi router again. What this sounds like (to me) is the satellite is working perfectly fine. It starts up, has no idea what router that it should connect to, and turns magenta out of frustration. The router may remember "This satellite isn't connected any more. Wonder when it is going to show up again?", but the satellite does not know which router to use.
How about opening the Orbi web browser interface, Attached Devices page, Delete that satellite.
Then go back to the main menu and "Add Orbi Satellite".
(or, I am not having a good day. Sorry)
