Thanx for your engagement. After days of help from Intel, they asked my to take the PC to the dealer to get it fixed.

Thanx
Tried to update firmware but got the “incorrect firmware” message.
I will look into the other ideas tomorrow.

I know this is totally "off the wall", but the thought that an Intel WiFi adapter will not connect to a Netgear router is pretty difficult to accept.
Am I correct that the problem is "no internet", not "no connection"?
There have been a number of instances reported where the Orbi Access Control gets turned on and new devices are "Denied access to internet." On the Orbi web interface, what does it say about the Acer computer when it is connected to Orbi? (Hint: does the word "Blocked" appear in red?)
If this is the case, I would navigate to the Advanced Tab, Security, Access Control. First, I would uncheck Access Control (turn it off) and click on "Apply". If you want to use Access Control, then this specific WiFi adapter has to be put into the "Allowed" table.
Whether Orbi or Acer does or does not support a specific bandwidth should be immaterial. WiFi adapters follow standards, and the standards are nearly always "backward compatible." When set to "Auto", the adapter should negotiate with Orbi and connect at the setting that is best.
- JesRasJan 21, 2020AspirantConnected with 144Mbps. 5G now. Getting 100mps download. It used to be 500.
With my other laptop I get 500 mbps.
Sometimes i Get error messages from my network card. Always when set to “auto”.
I can try all you suggestions, but I think my intel card is damaged.- CrimpOnJan 21, 2020Guru - Experienced User

I can try all you suggestions, but I think my intel card is damaged.I am trying to reconcile. (1) this card worked at a friend's house, (2) the card is now connected and gets 100mps download, (3) the intel card is damaged.
What happened between it would connect but got no internet, and now when it connects and has internet?
- JesRasJan 21, 2020AspirantToggling with settings. «Automatic» vs «20MHz» in the 5GHz channel width settings.
IT works only when set to 20MHz.
Sometimes it seams to connect to Orbi on “automatic” but no data passes. Link rate in Orbi = N/A
My other pc with Intel AC 8265 works in both modes and full speed.

If your other laptop gets to spec speeds and this one with the Intel card installed does, I would presume this one Intel card is faulty and needs to be replaced.
