OpenVPN on Android stopped working with Orbi RBR20

Can you please confirm which specific version of OpenVPN is being used on the client device?

 

There is a long conversation on the forum regarding how the version of OpenVPN host bundled in Orbi routers is not compatible with OpenVPN current standards.

The consensus appears to be that customers have two choices:

  • Use an out-of-date version of OpenVPN Client to connect, and live with the potential security implications, or
  • Find a different method to access the Orbi LAN than using the OpenVPN host included with the Orbi router.
    (For example, there are devices which can be placed on the Orbi LAN, such as the GL-MT2500 Blume 2 device (https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt2500/ ) or a version of OpenVPN or Wireguard can be run on a device on the LAN (I have installed Wireguard Host on a Raspberry Pi, which works)
