The serial number and MAC address are not relevant to the discussion. (Some would think it unwize to post them in a public forum. My own opinion is.... (meh, who cares)...)

  • ORBI66 is the WiFi name that was assigned at the factory (always the letters "ORBI" plus a two digit number.  All router manufacturers do something similar in hopes that two neighbors will not have the same WiFi "out of the box".  At least these are not as goofy as ATT and Belkin.)

The actual product number is found on the product label on the bottom of the case.

Would help to know which password is being rejected:

    • Orbi 'app'

      The serial #: 50U2735W0006A MAC# A040A058A312. Also states: Orbi mini router RBR40.

The RBR40 Orbi current firmware is indeed V2.7.4.24.

How did you determine that the router is upgrading, rather than simply rebooting?

Does anything appear in the Orbi log file when this happens?

The log is found using the Orbi web interface, see page 22 of the user manual:

    https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RBK50/Orbi_UM_EN.pdf

The log is explained on page 97
