A quick update.. after swapping out the unit, everything now works fine!
Must have been a hardware issue.
The RMA process was very straight forward here in Australia, a replacement unit was sent out along with a return con note.. all too easy!

It just rebooted itself again, was plugged directly into the wall.
Have you heard of anything like this before? Sounds like I'll need to return it.
