Orbi AC3000 - speed test 700Mbps off router. Max on the WiFi is only 300
Hello all, first thank you to this community for being so helpful. I purchased the setup in the subject above. We are currently on xfinity/comcast. Previously I had the 200Mbps package and was g...

Wifi isn't going to give you the same speeds as hardwired.
And the orbi isn't going to max out your wifi like a flagship router would.
the orbi devices are designed to provide a higher average throughput throughout your home.
for instance, my RAX200/CAX80/C7800 will provide a much higher wireless speed close proximity to my orbi router. But get a little distance going, and the orbi devices keep their speeds while the other devices drop off.
I usually see right around that 300mbps +/- when i'm testing wireless off the router. Some devices will go a bit faster, some a bit slower.
Just something to keep in mind.
- DronjonesJul 20, 2020Aspirantplemans. Thank you, appreciate the response. The speeds I am referring to are even when I’m standing in the same room as the main router. Based on the capable speeds of the WiFi mesh losing half the speed seems a bit much though?

Like plemans mentioned, wifi speeds will not be the same as wired. Based on wifi conditions, configuration, device design and support, most wifi devices connected on 5Ghz AC mode will max out at around 400-500Mpbs. Even my Mac Book Pro 2018 only sees around 300Mpbs normally. Contact your wifi devices mfrs to see what theoretical speeds they seems to support on 5Ghz AC.
Check the connection rate if your wifi devices as well:
