Orbi App Firmware Update Not Working

I'm currently running Firmware version 2.3.1.44 on my RBR20 (with one satellite) and need to update to the latest firmware, but everytime I go to update the firmware via the Orbi app it times out. I know I can manually update the firmware by downloading it to my laptop then connecting to the router via ethernet but I would have to buy an ethernet dongle for my MacBook Air, which I prefer not to do. 

 

Anyone else experienced issues with trying to update via the app? Anyone able to suggest a fix? Should I reboot the router?

    Connect the mac book air via wifi to the Orbi system and update the system using the mac. Use Safari to connect to the RBRs web page. You can use wifi connection with a PC to update FW. Update the RBS first, then the RBR. 

     

    Fully reboot the RBR and RBS. Power OFF for 30 seconds then back on.
